The Natchez Roots and Branches Organization was established by Her Royal Highness Princess Karen Chatman, who was born in Natchez, Mississippi. She is the fifth-generation granddaughter of Prince Abdul Rahman Ibrahima ibn Sori, an enslaved prince from Timbuktu who was enslaved in Natchez from 1788 to 1828. Princess Karen Chatman is dedicated to working with various organizations to highlight the deep historical connections within Natchez’s rich history

By embracing diverse cultural expressions such as art, music, food, and entertainment, our organization effectively engages people and fosters a deeper understanding of their rich history and the broader historical context of African Americans in the United States. The Natchez Roots and Branches Organization collaborates with academia and local communities worldwide, expanding its reach and impact to preserve the rich history of Natchez.
